Q: What are the benefits if I rent a textbook?
A: A rented book will have a lower price and allows you to return the
book at the end of the semester once you are done with it. You could keep the book if you chose to do so and pay the rental replacement fee, which is the difference between the rental price and purchase price.
Q: How long is the rental period?
A: Rentals are per semester. The price to rent is standard whether you
choose to keep them for the whole semester or not.
Q: What do I need to rent a textbook?
A: In order to rent a textbook you need a student ID and a credit
or debit card. You also need to sign our rental agreement stating
you will return the book by the deadline in proper condition or
the credit card you provide will be charged a rental replacement fee. The
rental replacement fee is the difference between the rental and purchase price.
Q: Why do I need credit card if I am paying for the rental in some other way?
A: A credit card is required so that in the event that you do not return
the rental by the deadline, or the rental is not in returnable condition,
the credit card on file will be charged a rental replacement fee. The rental
replacement fee is the difference between the rental price and the purchase price.
Q: What if I don't have a credit card? Can I use my parent's credit card?
A: Yes, if the student does not have a credit card in their name at the
time of the purchase, a parent’s is acceptable.
Q: Do I have to sign up for a rental account every semester to rent a textbook?
A: No, students are eligible for rentals every semester if they provide
a student ID, credit or debit card, and sign our rental agreement.
Q: Can I rent all my books?
A: Check our website for the current list of available rentals.
Q: What if I drop a class; can I get a full refund?
A: The return policy for a full refund on a rented textbook is the same
as any textbook purchase. The textbook(s) must be returned with a receipt
in its original condition by the deadline. Deadlines for a full refund
are posted in store and on your sales receipt.
Q: Can I write in my rented textbook?
A: Yes. You may lightly mark in rented books with pencil or highlights as
long as the marks you make do not compromise the book's resale-ability.
Q: What if I lose my book?
A: If a rented book is lost or stolen, the renter will be charged the
rental replacement fee to the credit card on file. The rental replacement
fee is the difference between the rental price and the purchase price.
Q: When do I have to return my textbook(s)?
A: You may return your rented textbook(s) at any time throughout the
semester. The final return due date is listed on your sales receipt,
typically the last day of finals. Emails will be sent mid way through the
semester as well as the week of finals to remind you of your rented textbook
and the return deadline. Please note that the University Campus Store
is not responsible if you do not receive these email reminders.
Q: Where do I return my rented textbook(s)?
A: Rented textbooks can be returned at the Campus Store or any of our buy
back locations across the campus.
Q: What if I forget which of my textbooks are rented?
A: Contact Book Information at
[email protected] and provide your
student ID number, and they will be able to tell you which books
you have rented.
Q: What if I forgot to return my book or I return it late?
A: It is your responsibility to return your book no later than the date
indicated on your sales receipt. books not returned by the date WILL result in additional fees.
If additional fees are not paid, the student may have a hold placed on their e-campus account.
To help avoid this situation, you will receive several email reminders
the week of finals to ensure that you remember that you have rented a
textbook(s) and that the deadline to return it is approaching. Please
note that the University Campus Store is not responsible if you do not
receive these reminders
